A Day in the Life of Max

(Well first let me correct my last post.. Max is actually 7 months old tomorrow.
I don't know why I keep calling him 6 or 61/2 months old. Time flies!)

A typical "pre-baby" Saturday used to consist of us sleeping in, making an awesomely unhealthy breakfast, laying around,  maybe doing some housework but mostly just wasting the day away in leisure. I was thinking today how my Saturdays are so different now, but I love it. Of course sleeping in is glorious and Justin and I take turns letting each other do that sometimes, but somewhere in the past 7 months I grew to love getting up early. Sometimes I'll get up by 6 on a saturday and although I'm tempted to do housework to get caught up, instead I'll spend an hour by myself drinking coffee and reading. Then when Max gets up a little later I cant wait to see him. I love the stage he is in right now- just loving us to death. He is so happy to see us when we come into his room in the morning- its such a better feeling than sleeping in!

So thats how our "post-baby" Saturday began today! After his bottle, Max usually likes to jump in his jumparoo like a maniac while squealing. So he jumped for awhile, and then had play time on the floor with us. Of course, since he likes to keep things fresh and different for us, he decided to show us that he can crawl!! He was doing a couple crawling steps for the past 2 days but now he can really crawl. As in, "where did Max go, he's not in this room anymore" kind of crawling. So we are excited, but also thinking- oh gosh here comes the next stage of our life. Of course, there is a learning curve...
"Maybe if i push with my head really hard I can get into the fire place.. nope"

Everyone says babies grow up too fast. That's silly. And true. I miss his baby-ness but I also love how interactive he is now and how he actually wants to play with us and hear us talk and sing to him. Max had his first "friends" Bday party today (Happy bday Caitlin!) and when we left, Justin and I said to each other "Max had so much fun". It was such a weird realization because as a baby we'd just cart him around with us but he really did have a blast, crawling after Caitlin, playing with her toys, and smiling at all the guests. He was all smiles and squeals for hours. I felt like that was such a "big boy" thing : )

Max was astonished by her big girl toys. love at first sight. With the toys and Caitlin.

"Hey birthday girl. whats up."                "Did you see my monkey bib?"

                                    "shhh"                                             *Where are the parents?!*

Dont worry. There was no kissing.. yet. There was some tension filled moments of sharing though!
And then the amazing cupcakes were brought out yumm.

"I'm getting a cupcake!"

"False alarm. I'm not getting a cupcake.."

"Its okay.. dance party! I feel better."

Max was so exhausted when we left. He had played and crawled hours past his nap time and loved it. He slept on the way home and in his car seat in the house for another half hour. That rarely happens unless he is completely exhausted. He woke up ready to keep playing! We were playing in his room upstairs while I was putting away some of his baby clothes that he grew out of (so sad.. i dont want to talk about it), and it started POURING rain. The windows were open, and since Max is attracted to any noise at all and has to figure out what is going on, he was over to the window pretty quickly. I'm making this last series of pictures as large as possible, so you can see how totally drenched he got. Despite my efforts to get him out of the rain, he loved it and kept pulling himself back up for more!

In summary, I loved today.
